| Hi everyone!
The day is finally here! If you did not know, I depart today for South Africa,
and I couldn't have done without your words of encouragement, prayers and contributions. Thank you so much.
Please
keep my team of 10 girls and 1 guy in your thoughts and prayers as we
journey toward our destination. We will be departing at 6:00 p.m. today
from JFK and will be flying to East London via Paris and an overnight
stay in Johannesburg.
We
will be working on construction projects building a medical clinic and
a children's playground and also will be teaching a Vacation Bible
School program each afternoon for 200-300 local kids, with skits,
games, crafts and songs
I plan on taking many
pictures and videos during my trip which I'll share with you all upon my safe return.
For those of you in the NYC metro area, I will be throwing a
thank you bash for all my supporters when I get back complete with
slide shows, videos, my famous homemade apple pie, and specialty
refreshments and yummy snacks.
I won't be able to respond to your email until I return, but please feel free to write me while I'm away.

As some of you know already, I am going to Africa this summer for about 12 days.
I'll be part of a team heading to East London, South Africa to help build a playground and a medical clinic for disadvantaged children.
The total cost of the trip is $3,200 per person.
By this Wednesday the 13th I need to raise $2,000+ to pay the travel agency for the transportation down payment.
Some of you have made generous donations so far (thank you to those who have offered to support me and made pledges!) but I still need your help to make my goal. If you are interested in making this possible, please keep reading.

Dear friends,
I'm writing to share with you the most exciting news that's happened to
me in a while, and I hope you'll be interested in what I have to say.
In a few weeks, I will be heading to South Africa on a missions trip with a team of 10 women and 1 guy from my church here in Manhattan ( www.journeymetro.com <http://www.journeymetro.com/> ) to participate in something huge – an endeavor I've never had the opportunity to be a part of.
From July 20-August 1, we will be devoting our time to building a playground and medical clinic for children through a local church in East London, South Africa.
Did you know it's estimated about 30% of pregnant women
in South Africa have HIV? Do you know how many kids have HIV and AIDS?
The statistic is just too sobering to think about.
For me to be able to go, I am asking for your partnership in this
cause. Each team member is responsible for raising the funds for the
total trip cost of approximately US $3,200 per person on their own.
Because of last-minute logistical changes in airfare and an unexpected
increase in overall cost, I need to come up with the airfare within the
next 48 hours.
This Wednesday (in two days) at 5:00 p.m. is the revised deadline of US $2,100 to cover the airfare alone.
I don't have the funds out-of-pocket to be able to go as of
this moment. In fact, I am well short of the target. As of now (2:05 a.m.), I only have $900+
in verbal pledges so far. Which makes your help and support so crucial.
Every dollar donated will go toward helping me to get to South Africa
to be a part of this amazing opportunity to help out those in need. No
amount is too small. By contributing any amount to help me alleviate
the financial costs associated with the trip, you'll be making an
investment in the children of South Africa.
